About This Project
January 2025 on a one-story in Houston's Westbury area, 77035. The tear-off found two layers of shingles, which both came off to the deck before the new roof went on.
The spec: twelve pieces of ridge vent, two turtle vents, an 8-inch four-way on the 5/12 slope, a 4-inch HVAC flashing, three 1.5-inch and two 3-inch pipe jacks with 3-in-1 boots, and 1.5-inch drip edge.
Westbury's 1950s ranch houses have long, low roofs and the ridge runs the full length of the house, which makes continuous ridge vent the obvious ventilation choice.
Four photos show the ridge vent and the slopes.
