The most common roof in the Houston area — and when it's installed correctly, one of the best values in roofing.
Learn about Shingle Roofing →Shingle, metal and tile roofing installed across Cypress, Katy, Spring, The Woodlands and the Greater Houston area — with an honest read on which one actually fits your home and budget.
Most homeowners come to us knowing they need a roof, not knowing which kind. These pages lay out what we install, what each system actually costs you over its life, and where each one makes sense — so you can make the call with real information instead of a sales pitch.
If you’d rather just have someone look at it, that’s free too. Our inspection includes a straight answer about whether you need a new roof at all.

Standing seam and stone-coated steel systems that outlast shingles by decades and stand up to Gulf Coast wind.
Lifespan: 40–70 years depending on system and finish

Concrete, clay and synthetic tile — the longest-lasting roofing systems we install, and the most detail-sensitive.
Lifespan: 50+ years for tile; underlayment typically needs replacement at 20–30 years
Learn about Tile Roofing →Every roof we install has to survive the same four things: 95-degree summers that push attic temperatures past 140, humidity that never really leaves, spring hail, and wind events like the May 2024 derecho. The systems handle those differently, and the differences matter more than the brochure does.
| System | Expected life | Hail & wind | Heat & energy | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Architectural shingle | 25–30 years | Class 3–4 impact options; 110–130 mph wind ratings when nailed to spec | Standard; lighter colors and proper ventilation do most of the work | Most Cy-Fair, Katy and Spring subdivisions — HOA-friendly and the best cost per year |
| Standing seam or stone-coated steel | 40–70 years | Sheds hail without losing granules; highest wind ratings we install | Reflective coatings cut attic heat gain noticeably | Owners staying 15+ years, acreage and ranch properties, homes that have already lost one roof to hail |
| Concrete, clay or synthetic tile | 50+ years (underlayment 20–30) | Concrete and clay can crack under large hail; synthetic does not | Thermal mass and airflow under the tile keep the deck cooler | Mediterranean and Spanish-style homes in The Woodlands and Katy where the structure was designed for the weight |
The right system is usually decided by three questions, not by the material catalog. How long do you plan to own the house? What does your HOA allow? And has the roof been through a hail claim before? A homeowner in Bridgeland who expects to move in eight years is almost always best served by a well-installed architectural shingle. A homeowner on acreage near Tomball who has already replaced one roof after hail is a real candidate for metal, because the second replacement is the one that pays for it.
Whatever you pick, installation quality matters more than brand. Most early failures we tear off in Houston are not material failures — they are nailing patterns off spec, missing starter course, unsealed pipe boots, or ventilation that was never sized for our attic temperatures. We check all of it before we quote, and we photograph the deck before anything goes on it.
We inspect free and give you an honest recommendation — including when a repair beats a replacement.
