About This Project
June 2025 in Houston's Memorial area, 77079. The roof and a section of siding were done as one project: the siding crew went first on the gable ends, then the roof followed so the new step flashing could be set behind fresh siding rather than cut into old boards.
The roof is a one-story hip with a large brick chimney on the rear slope. The cricket behind the chimney was rebuilt and re-flashed, which is the detail that fails most often on Memorial roofs of this era.
The shingle is a slate-gray laminate. The street is heavily treed, so the crew ran a tarp line along the fence to keep tear-off out of the neighbor's beds.
Eight photos cover the chimney, the ridge and the house from the yard.
