About This Project
December 2024 on a stucco-and-brick one-story in a cul-de-sac in Houston's 77041. The scope was the roof only; the existing metal and gutters were excluded, so the crew worked carefully around them.
The roof is a long hip with a chimney on the rear slope. It was torn to the deck, re-flashed at the chimney and the stucco walls, and re-shingled in a driftwood laminate with a new ridge cap.
Stucco walls need a different flashing detail than brick. Rather than cutting a reglet into the surface, the step flashing was tucked behind the existing weep screed and sealed, so the stucco was never cut and the wall still drains the way it was built to. It is slower than brick work, and it is the reason the stucco side was the last slope finished.
Photos circle the house from the garage to the back patio and the brick side elevation.
