About This Project
June 2024 on a one-story in League City. The tear-off found two layers of shingles across all 32 squares, and both came off to the deck before the new roof went on. Six sheets of decking were replaced.
The geometry is a hip, a front gable and a brick chimney on top of that. New flashing at the chimney, new boots and vents, a charcoal laminate and capped hips, nailed to the windstorm pattern.
Two layers on a League City roof is a problem beyond weight: the windstorm inspection will not pass a layover, so the second layer had to come off regardless.
A second shingle layer also hides the decking from the inspector, and in League City the windstorm inspection has to see fastener penetration into the deck. That is why a layover cannot pass. The six sheets we replaced were under the second layer and would never have been found without the full tear-off.
Four photos show the house and the finished roof.
