Roof Replacement on Old Masters Dr in Sugar Land, TX

About This Project

July 2024 on a two-story stucco-and-stone home in Sugar Land's 77479, a referral from a past customer. The roof was hand-nailed at the homeowner's request and the gutters were replaced after the roof.

Structurally this is a steep hip-and-gable hip roof carrying a boxed chimney. The replacement itself covered new flashing at the stucco walls, new boots and vents, a charcoal laminate and capped hips.

Hand-nailing in July is hard work and the crew spread it over two days with early starts. The result is a nail pattern an inspector can check by eye.

Stucco walls change how step flashing is done. On brick we cut a reglet into the mortar for the counter flashing; on stucco we slide the step flashing behind the weep screed and seal it, so the stucco is never cut. It is slower and the wall side of this roof took most of the second day.

Five photos show the house and the finished roof.
