About This Project
A one-story brick home on Fincastle Drive in Katy 77450, replaced in June 2024 with an architectural shingle in a tan-and-brown blend that matches the brick. The roof is a simple hip design over the main house with a lower section over the back patio, and the job included new gutters after the roof was on.
The photos show the rear elevation with the patio, the ridge cap detail, and the shingle field from the roof. Hip roofs in this part of Katy are mostly from the 1980s and 1990s builds around Kelliwood and Nottingham Country, and the original roofs are long gone; this was at least the second roof on the house.
Gutters are hung after the drip edge goes on, not before, which is why we schedule them as the last day of a replacement rather than a separate trade. On this house the new gutters were sized to the patio run, which had been overflowing in heavy rain.
