About This Project
February 2026 on a two-story in Houston's South Belt area, 77089. The build sheet: fourteen pieces of ridge vent, 2-inch drip edge, four 1.5-inch pipe jacks, one 3-inch and one 4-inch HVAC flashing and an 8-inch four-way vent on the 8/12 slope.
Fourteen pieces of ridge vent is a long run for a house this size, which tells you the attic had no real exhaust before. The old roof had a couple of box vents and that was it.
77089 is one of our busiest zips, and this house is typical of the 1980s two-stories there: steep front gable, a flatter rear hip, and a lot of roof for the square footage.
