About This Project

August 2024 on a two-story in League City's 77573. The job went through the city's permit and inspection process and was built to the windstorm standard for the zone.

What the crew was working with: a steep hip-and-gable hip roof and a tall front gable. The replacement itself covered new flashing, new boots and vents, a driftwood laminate and capped hips.

August in League City is the hottest build of the year and the crew worked the steep front gable first thing in the morning while it was still in shade.

The tall front gable on this house faces southwest, straight into the direction a Gulf storm arrives from, which is why its shingles were the ones that had lifted. The new roof uses six nails per shingle on that gable and the ridge is capped with a dedicated hip-and-ridge shingle rather than cut three-tabs, both of which are what the windstorm standard asks for on an exposed face.

Seven photos show the ridge and slopes.
