Roof Replacement on Clareton Ln in Cypress, TX

About This Project

A single-story home on Clareton Lane in 77429, in the established part of Cypress where many roofs installed in the late 1990s are reaching the end of their life at the same time. This one was replaced in September 2026 with a charcoal architectural shingle on a roof that climbs to a 10/12 pitch over the garage gable, steep enough that the crew staged it in sections.

The ventilation was reworked from scratch. Eight sections of ridge vent now run the length of the main peak, an 8-inch four-way vent was fitted to the steep slope, and the old turtle vent above the back bedroom was removed and decked over. Eight pipe jacks were replaced, along with a 3-inch and a 4-inch HVAC jack and two turbine vents. Two satellite dishes were removed with the old roof.

The crew's own close-out notes recorded seven decking repairs, 27 feet of counter flashing, and 36 feet of step flashing, plus the gutters being detached and reset so new drip edge could be installed under them. That is typical of a roof this age: the shingles are the visible part, but the flashing and decking are what keep it dry.
