About This Project

A west Houston home in 77063 with two different roofs on one house: a pitched main roof and a low-slope section over a rear addition. The pitched areas got Weathered Wood architectural shingles, and the flat section was re-roofed as a separate system with its own membrane and new metal edge, since shingles cannot be used below a 2/12 pitch.

The scope list for this one was long. A 1,500 CFM power vent now moves air out of the attic, backed by a ridge vent along the main peak and an 8-inch four-way intake on the 8/12 slope. We replaced eight pipe boots in three sizes, both HVAC jacks, and the flashing around the atrium, which is the kind of detail that leaks first on a roof this age. The old satellite dish and its siding connection came off at the owner's request.

Before tear-off, the crew covered the outdoor kitchen and grills at the back of the house. Protecting what is under the roof is part of the job, not an extra.
