About This Project
March 2025 on a one-story in northwest Houston. The ventilation was reworked from two turbines to a continuous ridge vent, which is quieter and does not rust, and the chimney was re-flashed with new step and counter metal.
The accessory list: four 1.5-inch, one 2-inch and one 3-inch lead pipe jacks, ridge vent along the main run and a driftwood laminate shingle.
Turbines work, but they are the first thing to seize or rattle on a ten-year-old roof. When a roof has a long enough ridge, we recommend swapping them for ridge vent at replacement.
Five photos show the ridge vent, the chimney and the slopes.
