About This Project
This one sits in a lakefront neighborhood in west Houston where most of the neighbors have clay tile. The homeowner chose a charcoal architectural shingle instead, and the photos show why it works: against the terracotta rooflines around it, the new roof reads as crisp and modern without competing with the lake views behind the house.
The roof itself is a complex one. Multiple intersecting hips and valleys, a chimney chase, and several plumbing and HVAC penetrations meant a lot of flashing and cutting. Every valley was lined with ice-and-water shield before the shingles went down, and the pipe jacks and exhaust vents were replaced rather than reused.
Our crews photograph every completed roof from the ridge so the homeowner can see the parts they never will from the ground. On a roof with this much geometry, that documentation is also how we check our own work before we leave.
