About This Project
A two-story in north Houston's 77073 with an unusual history. We replaced the roof in November 2024; a batch of shingles turned out to have a manufacturing defect, CertainTeed honored the warranty, and the shingles were re-laid in April. The file closed in June 2025.
The spec: seven pieces of ridge vent, an 8-inch four-way on the 10/12 front slope and another on the 7/12 rear, eight 3-in-1 pipe jacks, 3-inch and 4-inch HVAC flashings. The old satellite dish came down.
A material defect is rare and the manufacturer stood behind it. The homeowner got a second new roof at no cost and the roof you see is the second one.
Eight photos show the finished re-laid roof from the ridge.
