About This Project

The homeowner wanted the roof built to the 130 mph wind rating, so it was hand-nailed with six nails per shingle, every component is CertainTeed, and it carries the 5-Star warranty. Manvel is inside the Texas windstorm zone and the roof was inspected and certified after the build.
Hand-nailing is slower than a gun and costs more, but it puts every nail at the right depth and angle, which is what the high-wind rating depends on. The backyard shed was re-roofed to match.
This is a one-story with a tall hip roof and a front gable, typical of the newer Manvel subdivisions. Decking was in good shape.
