About This Project
A January 2025 replacement on a one-story brick home in the Oak Forest area of Houston, 77092. The plan is a simple hip roof; one turbine and a pair of pipe jacks, which made it a one-day tear-off and dry-in even in the short winter daylight break up the slopes.
The turbine was reset on a new base and the jacks were swapped for lead boots. The shingle is a charcoal laminate that matches the darker trim on the house.
Winter is an underrated time to replace a roof in Houston. The crew works faster when it is 55 degrees than when it is 95, the shingles are easier to handle, and the sealant strips still bond on the first sunny afternoon.
